At least once a year we kayak Matagorda Bay. This time it was us and our boys, plus my mother in law, my sister and brother in law, as well as 2 of our besties! Sometimes this is a boys only trip or a couples only trip but this time it was a bit of a mish mash as you can see! Kayaking has become one of my favorite activities in any setting but I especially love it in the Bay.
I need to get to the beach at least once a year or I start getting cranky so this was the perfect way to fill my cup!!!
Day 1 was a little beach going, sand castle building, wave jumping fun. With a smidgeon of surf fishing thrown in!
That little speck of blue in the surf is Nathan hauling the bait out.
Day 2 was all about that kayaking baby! Roughly 6 hours on the water catching trout, red fish, and blue crab. After which we drove into town to have an early dinner and then headed back to the beach to try our hand at surf fishing using a water balloon launcher for our bait! As you can see that mostly consisted of horsing around lol!
All 6 of us getting ready to head out!
Alex napping on his kayak.
How do I not get a sunburn when kayaking you ask? SPF 50+ clothing from top to bottom LITERALLY. You can’t see it but I have on a shirt that has the buff that is covering my face as well as a hood I pull up, pants, shoes with serious drain holes, and gloves on every time. I am not trying to get burnt crispy out there!
Crabbing was interesting! It was also a nice break to stretch our legs from kayaking.
These guys! LOL! I think they had a good time with the balloon launcher! There is currently talk circulating about buying a drone. Good Grief!
Day 3 was clean up and head home to see our girls. All in all it was a fantastic trip and the next trip for the fall is in the works for planning!
