Last week I had a couple of hours to kill while little man was at Museum School since it was a BEAUTIFUL spring day I decided to check out The Gardens Restaurant and see what they were all about! Food and serenity go hand in hand right!
Let me start with the gorgeousness that is the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens. There is something so peaceful and serene there that the minute I get through the gates I start to relax and just feel the tension and stress of life drain away. To get the the restaurant you can actually drive down a tree lined road that did nothing but get me closer to nature nirvana!
It is so very beautiful in the spring if you haven’t been I would suggest you move it to the top of your Spring Bucket list for our area! (Don’t have a spring bucket list you say! Go check out ours!)
I am obviously not a professional restaurant reviewer BUT I do love good food so take my opinions for what they are MY OPINIONS.
I had the soup of the day to start which was cream of spinach with mushrooms. It was a little salty for my taste but very light which I didn’t expect as it had a cream base and there was the delightful surprise of a single dumpling at the end that I actually thoroughly enjoyed. I am not always a fan of dumplings but I think it has more to do with not liking an abundance of them! Over all I really enjoyed this soup! It was a very spring appropriate soup!
I went with the apricot chicken salad on ciabatta bread which was delicious! The apricots were like little jewels of sweetness in with the chicken which I adore! I will probably order it as a salad if I order it again. I think the chicken salad would really shine in that take of the dish!
I wasn’t going to get dessert then the waitress gave me my options…. and then chocolate mousse cake happened! It was chocolate perfection in my humble opinion!!! The mousse was perfect and that is something coming from me as I am very very picky about mousse!
The atmosphere inside is intimate and lovely but outside is where its at ladies and gentlemen. The birds singing, the slight breeze and the gorgeous surroundings all added up to a much appreciated slice of heaven in my afternoon and I will definitely be back! Spring may be my favorite time to visit but to be sure ask me again in the fall!
