My house is a wreck. Not a little messy, not hey they live there and there are 6 of them.
A W R E C K ! ! ! I can’t take it anymore I am snapping at people my poor husband has got to be close to wringing my neck. And its all over a messy house! I can’t stand messy I can’t deal when it gets this way. It has been so messy I was finding reasons to leave so I didn’t have to deal with it. Work was a little slow today so I told my husband that I was taking the day off. I was going to clean. I also made breakfast for the week thanks to my attempt at meal planning (one meal counts right?!?!?) and dinner for tonight. I found a recipe for crock pot beef carnitas. Mexican food always sounds good so I proceeded to try it out! Other than not trusting my sneaky crock pot and instead cooking it on the stove in my trusty cast iron pot I did it as the recipe said, it was easy it was delicious and everybody ate and was happy another win for a Pintrest recipe!! After dinner got started and some good conversation had happened I had the talk with everybody about how not only does it make me crazy when the house is messy but that we run a business out of our home which makes it even more important that it stay reasonably clean. Nathan and I are taking back the living room. Part of the problem we both agree is that we are not “present” very often. We work busy jobs, we have 4 kids that are all very active and we take them to a school that is all the way across town so we spend alot of time driving. Not to mention trying to fit in working out on a regular basis….messy house fits in right here! He saw a link on Facebook about a kid getting grounded and to get un-grounded they had to earn 500 points and then there was a list of duties and the points for each in order to earn their way out of being grounded. We are going to do something similar but add in that my Starbucks junkie kids can only have Starbucks on Friday and only if they have earned enough points to do so. They will have an opportunity to earn a drink and a snack. Fingers crossed that this is effective!!! I really want to do something that works with them not against them (and us) so that it sticks!!!
Here is what I came up with:
