So for Valentine’s day this year I had plans…big plans.
We agreed that Nathan would plan our anniversary and I would plan Valentine’s Day….I was so stoked.
Due to extenuating circumstances and a husband that doesn’t believe in planning ahead. ( It may be against his religion) I was informed that I will not be getting a gift at this time. One of our sweet girls reminded him that he still needed to ask me to be his Valentine, that being married didn’t mean he didn’t need to still ask. (sweet sweet girl!!)
Now I am going to tell you a secret…I have never, never had someone to ask me to be their Valentine. At 8:25 pm I got a text message from my (self proclaimed) unromantic unconventional totally practical husband….Will you be my Valentine?….UM YES!! I so love this man. Then I got on Facebook and he had posted a sweet picture from the princess bride that said will you be my Valentine, a link to the song that we danced our first dance at our wedding to, and a link that is the song that never fails to make me think of us and was just almost our first dance song. I ADORE him!
So what did I do for Valentine’s Day?
I made plans. Fun plans, yummy plans and just a teeny bit adventurous plans.
Then the plans fell through. Some at the last minute some a few days before and I could have totally pulled it out (I’m that kind of girl ) but then when you throw in that we are BROKE….well not so much.
Luckily I had purchased his gift over a month ago so that was all set. It is a set of cuff links that look like little circles of wood with our initials carved into them…cute right. I totally believe that gifts shouldn’t always be practical but on Valentine’s day above all else I feel like it should be fun, sweet and definitely impractical. So even though I know there is a very good chance he will never wear them I think I got him a great gift to show my feelings for him in a very personal way. So…pffft to you ruined plans all I need is my sweetie, our blanket and True Romance. What more can romance ask for….OK so maybe we will watch the movie another night….. 🙂
